The apparatus performs the steps of identifying user devices 73; providing information which is indicative of an intended path of a vehicle to the user device 77; then the apparatus determines whether or not it has received a notification from the user device acknowledging that the user has acknowledged the information indicative of the intended path of the vehicle 89; and if the apparatus has not received the notification, enabling modification of the intended path of the vehicle 93, which can include breaking or selecting a new path. The user device receives information 79 indicative of the intended path of the vehicle; then provides this information to the user 81; then determines whether or not the user has acknowledged the information 83; and if it is the user has acknowledged this information then the devices transmits a notification of the user acknowledgement 85. A method and computer program are also disclosed for both the apparatus and user device. This invention helps to raise the awareness of users of the vehicles, particularly autonomous vehicles, around the user. It also acts somewhat similarly to a dead man switch but with the emphasis on pedestrians not the driver of a vehicle. |
