<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens for spectacles enabling patternless edging to be performed thereon by a holding method similar to that for a conventional lens for spectacles even if an oil based film is provided. <P>SOLUTION: An inventive lens 10 for spectacles includes a lens base material 11, oil-repellent coat films 12, 13 deposited on both surfaces of the lens base material 11, and a protection film 14 formed on the oil-repellent coat film 12. The protection film 14 is formed of a coating liquid containing (a) a resin consisting of an organic compound, (b) inorganic oxide fine particles, and (c) an organic silicon compound represented by the general formula R<SP POS="POST">1</SP><SB POS="POST">a</SB>R<SP POS="POST">2</SP><SB POS="POST">b</SB>Si(OR<SP POS="POST">3</SP>)<SB POS="POST">4-(a+b)</SB>or a hydrolysate thereof, as active components.
