<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a strip sheet support device and a strip sheet support method in which accurate alignment is not necessary to appropriately perform data communication for a data carrier when an axial core member which is wound with a strip sheet and on which the data carrier is provided is supported with a support shaft. <P>SOLUTION: A support device 2 comprises: a support shaft 221 able to be inserted into a hollow part of an axial core member 24; and a frame 21 for supporting the support shaft 221. The axial core member 24 is provided with a data carrier 26 allowing at least one of storage and transmission of prescribed data. The frame 21 is provided with an antenna surface 273 orthogonal to the axis C of the support shaft 221.
