<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torsion tester capable of measuring torque applied to one end of a test specimen. <P>SOLUTION: A torsion tester includes a drive unit for rotationally driving one end of a test specimen around a prescribed central axis. The drive unit includes a fixing part fixed to a frame, a rotary portion supported rotatably on the frame, and a motor for driving the rotary portion. The rotary portion includes a torque sensor for detecting torsional load applied to the test specimen, a chuck which is provided on one end of the rotary portion and to which the one end of the test specimen is fitted, and a shaft part disposed between the torque sensor and the chuck.
