<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for causing a protein to be of low molecular weight, which can solve the problem arising in conventional methods using proteases. <P>SOLUTION: This invention relates to the method of causing the protein to be of low-molecular weight through a plasma treatment. The plasma treatment is preferably an atmospheric plasma treatment. The plasma treatment is preferably carried out by placing a protein between parallel flat plate electrodes.
