<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous material with fluid permeability, which has an extremely thin fiber diameter and contains highly hydrophilic cellulose-based nano-fibers, and to inexpensively manufacture the porous material. <P>SOLUTION: The porous material has a meshy structure formed, in which nano-fibers entangle with one another in pores of a porous supporting medium having numerous pores connected.
