PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image transmission/reception system requiring no transmission path directly connecting a grabber side MCU with a camera side MCU in transmitting internal information showing an internal state of a transmission side connector to an image reception device.SOLUTION: An image transmission/reception system (1) includes an active cable (10), an image transmission device (camera 30), and an image reception device (grabber 40). The active cable (10) includes a transmission side connector (11) comprising a provision unit (111a) for providing internal information showing an internal state of the transmission side connector (11) for the image transmission device (30); the image transmission device (30) comprises a superposition unit (MUX35) for superposing the internal information on an image signal to be transmitted to the image reception device (40) through the active cable (10).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
