PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a laminated wavelength plate that operates as a half-wave plate while suppressing reduction in switching characteristics.SOLUTION: A light source unit 110 emits a linearly polarized laser beam at a predetermined wavelength. A liquid crystal cell 122 transmits the laser beam emitted from the light source unit 110 and can switch directions of a director with respect to a predetermined direction between a first direction and a second direction both parallel to a substrate plane. A wave plate 123 transmits the laser beam exiting from the liquid crystal cell 122. A wave plate 124 transmits the laser beam exiting from the wave plate 123, and has a slow axis parallel to the wave plate 123. A wave plate 125 transmits the laser beam exiting from the wave plate 124, and has a slow axis parallel to the first direction or the second direction.
