PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording material characteristics measuring apparatus which can easily and correctly evaluate the environment dependence characteristics related to the change in moisture content included in a recording material.SOLUTION: A recording material characteristics measuring apparatus is equipped with: a humidifier 5 mounted with a recording material 1 and has a port facing either the front surface 1a or the rear surface 1b of the recording material 1 to humidify the recording material 1; a humidity measuring device 11 that faces either the front surface 1a or the rear surface 1b in a position reverse to the humidifier 5 via the recording material 1 and measures the humidity of the recording material 1; an image acquiring unit 13 that acquires the structure of the recording material 1 in an image form; and a measurement processor 13C that measures distortion corresponding to humidification of the recording material according to a pre-humidification image acquired before the humidification of the recording material 1 and a post-humidification image acquired after the humidification of the recording material 1 by the humidifier 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
