951,895. Angular bending. OLIVER MACHINERY CO. Ltd. Jan. 28, 1963 [Jan. 30, 1962], No. 3413/62. Heading B3E. A folder brake comprises a surface against which a sheet of material can be clamped, pivotal bending means arranged to be pivoted to engage a portion of the sheet and to bend same relative to the remainder of the sheet about a former, said pivotal movement taking place about a fulcrum which is adjustable as to its distance from the clamping surface whereby a sharp corner or radius corner can be formed on a sheet as desired. Metal sheet 38 to be bent is clamped on to a fixed bed 6 by a plate 8 lowered by bell-cranks 9, 10 rocked by pneumatic piston and cylinder means 15 through links 16, 17. A bending leaf 20 is secured on a cross-beam 30 rocked about hinges 21 by pneumatic piston and cylinder means 32, 33 to bend that part of the sheet projecting from the clamps 6, 8 up about a sharp-edged nose-piece 37, Fig. 4, attached to the plate 8 or about a rounded nose-piece 37, Fig. 5. In order that the axis of pivoting be adjusted according to the particular nose-piece 37 used, one arm of each hinge 21 is vertically adjustable on a fixed part of the machine and the other arm is adjustable on the beam 30. |
