The present invention provides a touch processing unit capable of freely and quickly switching between a contact type touch sensing mode and a non-contact type touch sensing mode, and a touch screen apparatus using the same. The touch processing unit, processing an input signal in response to an input mode, includes a first touch module and a control unit controlling the first touch module. The first touch module compares a capacity variation with a first reference value to determine whether or not the input signal is generated if the input mode is a touch mode; compares the capacity variation with a second reference value to determine whether or not the input signal is generated if the input mode is a hover mode; and corrects the first reference value and the second reference value individually in a section where the input signal is not generated.
