A user configurable horizontal brake feature for a railroad crossing gate. The braking feature will maintain lowered crossing gate arms in the horizontal position, particularly preventing pedestrians from raising the pedestrian and/or vehicle gates. The gate comprises a position detector for determining when the gate is in a horizontal position, a controller for monitoring the ouput of the position detector and a brake to prevent movement of the gate. |
