<p>A method for running an internal combustion engine (1), with diagnosis of load displacement valve (21) function in the air intake, involves: (a) moving the valve from a first to a second specific position during at least one engine functional state; (b) determining the resultant variation in magnitude of an intake characteristic; (c) checking if the variation amplitude is below a first threshold; and (d) in this case noting a sign of presence of a valve function fault. An independent claim is included for a corresponding device (20), including devices for moving the valve between the two positions, determining the variation in the intake characteristic, verifying that the variation is below the threshold and recognizing the fault.</p> |
