PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical cable slotted rod having a plurality of grooves, capable of protecting a number of optical fiber core wires accommodated in the grooves from being burnt as much as possible even when an outer sheath constituting an optical cable is thin, and to provide an optical cable having the same.SOLUTION: A slotted rod 10 for an optical cable 1 has a plurality of grooves 11 formed on an outer periphery thereof, where at least tip portions of ribs 13 constituting the grooves 11 are made of a burn-resistant material. On the outer periphery side relative to a thinnest point 13a of each rib 13, there is a point where width of the groove 11 is greater compared with a point corresponding to the thinnest point 13a. A width W of the grooves 11 at the tips of the ribs 13 is in a range of 50 to 70%, inclusive, of a width ws of grooves obtained when the ribs 13 are extended outward from the thinnest points 13a keeping the width of the ribs 13 constant.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
