PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can prevent contamination of the surface of an electrophotographic photoreceptor such as adhesion of toner and maintain a clean state, maintain an initial charging function and optical attenuation function of the electrophotographic photoreceptor for a long period, maintain latent images on the electrophotographic photoreceptor for a long period, and maintain excellent image quality.SOLUTION: There is provided an image forming apparatus including at least an electrophotographic photoreceptor, charging means, latent image forming means, developing means, transfer means, and cleaning means, where the electrophotographic photoreceptor contains at least a polyester resin on the outermost surface in the thickness direction, and when the discharge frequency of an AC component of the charging means is 7.5 times the linear velocity of the electrophotographic photoreceptor, before and after applying a discharge charge of 100 μC/mmto the electrophotographic photoreceptor by using the charging means, the variation in average adhesion between the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor and a probe of a silicon cantilever is more than 0 nN and 5 nN or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
