The invention relates to a sterilised thermogelling composition comprising a chitosan having N-acetylglucosamine units, glucosamine units, and substituted glucosamine units other than the N-acetylglucosamine units, said substituted chitosan preferably having a degree of substitution of the glucosamine units of between 10 and 50%, expressed as mole number of the substituent in relation to the mole number of total units. The invention also relates to the production and uses of the composition.
