The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for compressing and storing radioactive metallic wastes. The present invention is to be performed by the steps of: measuring the radioactive metallic wastes having an insertable size so as to have a predetermined volume and weight; putting the measured radioactive metallic wastes into a waste accommodating part (10) through an input port (11); primary-compressing the metallic wastes by moving a first pressing plate (22) up to a predetermined length in a lengthwise direction of the waste accommodating part (10) by means of the driving of a first cylinder (21); secondary-compressing the metallic wastes by moving a second pressing plate (32) up to a predetermined length in a widthwise direction of the waste accommodating part (10) by means of the driving of a second cylinder (31); tertiary-compressing the metallic wastes by moving, to a predetermined height, a third pressing plate (42) to the upper part of the waste accommodating part (10) by means of the driving of a third cylinder (41); releasing the compressed state of the metallic wastes while backwardly moving the first pressing plate (22) a predetermined length, and then successively returning the second pressing plate (32) and the third pressing plate (42) to the original positions thereof; opening a gate (12) of the waste accommodating part (10) by raising a lifting plate (52) of a gate lifting part (50) to a predetermined height by means of the driving of a fourth cylinder (51); extracting the metallic wastes (90) of a compressed state to the outside of the waste accommodating part (10) by forwardly moving a push plate (62), provided at the first pressing plate (22), a predetermined length by means of the driving of a fifth cylinder (61); and successively loading the extracted metallic wastes (90) in a waste storage drum (80) by attaching the metallic wastes by means of the magnetic force of an electromagnet plate (74) provided at the front end of a transferring part (70). |
