PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating a disease or a condition by altering a response mediated by an opioid receptor.SOLUTION: The present invention provides 4-hydroxybenzomorphans represented by the formula which contain carboxamide or thiocarboxamide at the 3-position. The benzomorphans are used as compounds for analgesics, anti-diarrheal agents, anticonvulsants, antitussives and anti-addiction medications and exhibit strong affinity for opioid receptors.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
