PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calibrate a photon counting type X-ray detector more easily.SOLUTION: An X-ray CT apparatus according to one embodiment comprises an X-ray tube, a k-absorption edge filter, an X-ray detector, a calibration information acquisition part and an image generation part. The X-ray tube emits continuous X-rays. The k-absorption edge filter transmits X-rays in a specific energy band out of the continuous X-rays. The X-ray detector counts photons corresponding to the X-rays in the specific energy band in the first case where the k-absorption edge filter is installed in an emission path of the continuous X-rays; however, it counts photons corresponding to the continuous X-rays in the second case where the k-absorption edge filter is not installed in the emission path of the continuous X-rays. The calibration information acquisition part acquires calibration information for the X-ray detector on the basis of a result of counting the photons corresponding to the X-rays in the first case. The image generation part generates X-ray image data on the basis of a result of counting the photons corresponding to the X-rays in the second case.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
