Provided is an image pickup device that can recognize, as a subject, a target object which a user is attempting to capture, can track the movement of the subject, and even if the subject moves out of the capture area, can track the movement of the subject, and that can reliably focus on a designated subject at any time. The image pickup device comprises: a main camera 20 for capturing a subject; an electronic view finder (EVF) 40 for displaying the captured image captured by the main camera 20; a sub-camera 80 for capturing the subject using a wider capture range than that of the main camera 20; and a processing unit for extracting the subject from captured images captured by the main camera 20 and the sub-camera 80, tracking the extracted subject, and focusing on the subject when capturing the subject. If the subject moves out of the capture range of the main camera 20, the processing unit tracks the subject extracted from the captured image captured using the sub-camera 80. |
