Method of updating software embedded in an autonomous radio transmitter device devoid of any network application stack, of the beacon type, said method comprising the following steps: - providing an autonomous radio transmitter device of the beacon type supplied with built-in software, - providing at least one receiver device, such as a smartphone, - when a receiver device enters the field of coverage of said transmitter device, said mobile receiver interrogates said transmitter device so as to ascertain the version level of its embedded software, - if this version level is less than the update level of said software, said receiver device commences the update protocol by opening a communication channel with said transmitter device, - said receiver device performs the transfer of said update of said software, - when said receiver device exits said field of coverage, or when said update of the software is completely transferred, said transmitter device halts the communication with said receiver device. |
