This predicted-collision-time calculation device (1) is provided with: a distance acquisition unit (3) for acquiring the distance (X) from a vehicle (101) to an object; a relative-velocity acquisition unit (3) for acquiring the relative velocity (V) of the object; a relative-acceleration acquisition unit (3) for acquiring the relative acceleration (β) of the object; and a predicted-collision-time calculation unit (5) for calculating the predicted collision time (t) until the vehicle collides with the object. The predicted-collision-time calculation device and this predicted-collision-time calculation method are characterized in that: when the vehicle is accelerating, the predicted-collision-time calculation unit (5) calculates the predicted collision time (t) on the basis of the distance (X) and the relative velocity (V); and when the vehicle is decelerating, the predicted-collision-time calculation unit (5) calculates the predicted collision time (t) on the basis of the distance (X), the relative velocity (V), and the relative acceleration (β). |
