The invention relates to a method and device for detecting materials that make up a part (10), wherein the chemical elements that form a surface of the part are measured. According to the invention, the presence of a surface layer on the part is efficiently detected and, when applicable, the surface of the part is cut into in order to repeat the detection at depth beyond the surface layer. The invention also provides a device that is particularly suited to said implementation, which allows in particular the sorting of black polymers, with material identification and flame-retardant detection. |
