The purpose of the present invention is to prevent, in a wheel position detection device, misdetection of wheel position even if it cannot be ascertained by a wheel speed sensor whether a vehicle has advanced in either the forward direction or the rearward direction. If the edge count (or tooth count) for a gear has been incremented on the basis of a detection signal of a wheel speed sensor of one to three wheels when the vehicle is stopped, the edge count is not used as learning data. Because of this, the misdetection of wheel position on the basis of erroneous learning data can be prevented. Consequently, it is possible provide a wheel position detection device that can prevent misdetection of wheel position even if it cannot be ascertained by a wheel speed sensor whether the vehicle has advanced in either the forward direction or the rearward direction.
