PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a space-saving liquid agitation device in which the capacity of a separate container is smaller than that of an ink cartridge.SOLUTION: A liquid agitation device comprises: a first liquid housing part housing a liquid and detachable; a second liquid housing part; a flow path communicating the first liquid housing part with the second liquid housing part; a reversible pump provided on the flow path; detection means for detecting the amount of the liquid in the second liquid housing part; and control means for controlling the reversible pump. The liquid agitation is performed by the reciprocating movement of the liquid between the first and second liquid housing parts. The second liquid housing part has a smaller liquid housing capacity than the first liquid housing part. The control means controls the reversible pump so that the moving amount of the liquid does not exceed the capacity of the second liquid housing part and becomes the amount which does not make the second liquid housing part empty by the detection value of the detection means. Thereby, it is possible to provide a space-saving liquid agitation device enabling the reciprocating movement of the liquid between the first and second liquid housing parts.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
