PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine such that abnormality of an atmospheric pressure sensor can be securely detected.SOLUTION: An engine includes: a high-pressure supercharger 60; a supercharger rotation speed sensor 55 which detects the rotation speed of the high-pressure supercharger 60; an atmospheric pressure sensor 53 which detects first atmospheric pressure P1; and an ECU 50 which detects whether the atmospheric pressure sensor 53 is abnormal. The ECU 50 calculates second atmospheric pressure P2 from correlation F among an engine rotation speed Ne, a load Ac, a supercharger rotation speed Nt, and atmospheric pressure P, and the supercharger rotation speed Nt detected by the supercharger rotation speed sensor 55, compares the first atmospheric pressure P1 and second atmospheric pressure P2, and detects abnormality of the atmospheric pressure sensor 53 when the absolute value of a difference between the first atmospheric pressure P1 and second atmospheric pressure P2 is equal to or larger than a predetermined value &Dgr;P.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
