PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition system capable of controlling ignition energy to correspond to various power supply voltages.SOLUTION: An igniter comprises: a DC/DC converter 13 converting an output voltage from a battery 11 to an arbitrary voltage; an ignition coil 15 including a primary coil to which an output voltage from the DC/DC converter 13 or the output voltage from the battery 11 is applied and a secondary coil generating a high voltage; an igniter 14 operating using an input pulse signal voltage without receiving the supply of power supply electric power; and an ECU 12, the ECU 12 controlling the output voltage from the DC/DC converter 13 to cause the secondary coil to generate the high voltage so as to provide appropriate combustion of an air-fuel mixture, and outputting the pulse signal voltage indicating ignition timing to the igniter 14 to cause the igniter 14 to conduct or cut off a primary current and to apply the high voltage generated by the secondary coil to a discharge electrode 16 installed in a combustion chamber so as to generate a discharge spark having desired ignition energy.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
