PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control unit capable of appropriately executing a vehicle distance control over a distance between a preceding vehicle and an own vehicle.SOLUTION: A vehicle distance control ECU 12 controlling a vehicle distance of an own vehicle to a preceding vehicle on the basis of a reflection wave of a transmission wave transmitted to a front side of the own vehicle, acquires a detected distance from the own vehicle to a target determined from the reflection wave. If another reflection point is present ahead of the target and a distance between the target and another reflection point is recognized as a target pair distance, the vehicle distance control ECU 12 calculates the target pair distance as an offset at timing at which the target pair distance is recognized for predetermined time or longer. The vehicle distance control ECU 12 executes the vehicle distance control on the basis of a corrected distance obtained by subtracting the target pair distance from the detected distance if the target pair distance is recognized, and executes the vehicle distance control on the basis of a corrected distance obtained by subtracting the offset from the detected distance if the target pair distance is not recognized.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8 |
