PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relay system capable of implementing a function as an MLAG switch regardless of a version of a device specification of each switch device configuring the MLAG switch, and the switch device.SOLUTION: Each of the switch devices configuring the MLAG switch includes a control frame processing section for transmitting and receiving a control frame via a bridge port. One control frame processing section operates in a default state ST101 in which, when a control frame is received via the bridge port, in accordance with a version included in the control frame, the control frame is transmitted by using a frame format of a first version, or in a lower-order compatible state ST102 in which the control frame is transmitted by using a frame format of a lower-order version than the first version.
