An apparatus can include at least one processor, at least one memory device, and at least one network interface module, and a segmented application stored in the at least one memory device and executable by the at least one processor, wherein the segmented application includes a first application segment comprising executable code stored locally to be executed by the at least one processor and a second application segment comprising a stub that when activated directs the processor to a location where at least one output variable of the second application segment is stored, wherein execution of the first application segment depends on the at least one output variable of the second application segment.
