A gateway, comprising: a processor; and a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising: receiving media content comprising first media content and second media content, the first media content being received from a first system of a first service provider, the second media content being received from a second system of a second service provider, wherein the media content is received from the first and second systems by the processor using different transport protocols, wherein the processor is located at a user premises, wherein the first media content is received from the first system over a first access network managed by the first service provider via a hardwire connection with the processor, and wherein the second media content is received from the second system over a second access network managed by the second service provider via a wireless connection without utilizing the first access network;reformatting the media content to generate reformatted media content that is based on a standard protocol for a plurality of display devices at the user premises, wherein the standard protocol defines a common format for each of the plurality of display devices;providing the reformatted media content from the processor to the plurality of display devices at the user premises by selectively bypassing a media processor, wherein the bypassing comprises providing the reformatted media content from the processor to the plurality of display devices via a communication path that does not include the media processor;determining an incompatibility between additional media content and the media processor; andreformatting the additional media content based the incompatibility to generate a reformatted additional media content according to the standard protocol.
