PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to properly manage data of the image forming apparatus, to continuously use a nonvolatile memory regardless of a failure thereof, even when only one nonvolatile memory is provided.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 includes: a nonvolatile memory 103 storing a program and data; a RAM 102; a CPU 101 that develops the program and data read from the nonvolatile memory 103 on the RAM 102, controls operation of the image forming apparatus 1, on the basis of the developed program and data, and writes the data updated on the RAM 102 to the nonvolatile memory 103; and a communication section 150 which communicates with a host machine 200 for data backup. The CPU 101 changes the type of data to be backed up to the host machine 200, depending on whether a failure of the nonvolatile memory 103 is a read error or a write error.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
