PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-weight, compact radiation detector capable of quickly locating radioactive substances in a widely contaminated area, and to provide a radiation monitor having the same.SOLUTION: A radiation detector includes: a sensor unit 10 having front-stage sensor elements 13 that detect a partial Compton scattered electron energy value, and rear-stage sensor elements 14 that detect a residual Compton scattered electron energy value; and a signal processing unit 20 that obtains a Compton scattered electron energy value by adding the partial Compton scattered electron energy value and the residual Compton scattered electron energy value and computes an incident angle.
