The present invention relates to a solar cell having a vertical multilayer emitter structure, and a method of manufacturing said solar cell. An objective of the present invention is to provide a solar cell having a relatively simple structure and high electricity generating efficiency at relatively low processing costs, and a method of manufacturing the solar cell. To this end, a solar cell according to the present invention includes: a plate-shaped wafer; and an emitter having a vertical emitter portion extending from the plate surface at one side of the wafer in a width direction on the plate surface, and at least one horizontal emitter portion extending from the vertical emitter portion in a parallel direction on the plate surface. A method of manufacturing a solar cell according to the present invention includes the steps of: forming an n-type initial emitter of a predetermined initial width and a predetermined initial depth on top of a plate-shaped p-type wafer; forming a p-type switching portion of a predetermined partial width and partial depth corresponding to one portion of the initial width and the initial depth of the n-type initial emitter; forming an n-type surface horizontal emitter portion by diffusing a phosphoryl chloride (POC13) gas in a heated state on the top surface of the p-type wafer; and installing electrodes on the n-type surface horizontal emitter portion and the p-type wafer, respectively. |
