In the present invention, a stainless steel spring exhibiting excellent corrosion resistance and fatigue strength is provided by performing: a step in which a prescribed working ratio (ε) is used to draw a steel wire including, expressed in mass%, not more than 0.08% of C, 0.3-2.0% of Si, not more than 3.0% of Mn, 8.0-10.5% of Ni, 16.0-22.0% of Cr, 0.5-3.0% of Mo, and 0.15-0.23% of N, the remainder comprising Fe and impurities; a step in which coiled steel wire is obtained; a step in which heat treatment is performed at 500-600˚C for 20-40 minutes; a step in which nitriding is used to form, on the surface of the steel wire, a nitrided layer having a thickness of 40-60 µm; a step in which shot peening is performed; and a step in which heat treatment is performed. |
