The present invention addresses the problem of providing: cast iron capable of achieving brake part weight reduction, etc. by having high specific heat and strength; and a brake part. The present invention is: cast iron obtained, in mass%, from C: 2.0% to less than 3.0%, Si: 3.5 - 5.0%, Mn: 0.5 - 2.0%, Sn and/or Sb wherein Sn: 0.02 - 0.2% and Sb: 0.01 - 0.2%, and Cu: not more than 1.5%, the remainder being Fe and unavoidable purities; and a brake part manufactured from said cast iron. |
