The invention relates to an imaging device for representing a virtual image. The imaging device is provided with at least one eyeglass lens (1) to be worn in front of the eye and a display device (9) arranged in the edge region of the eyeglass lens (1), said display device comprising an image generator (11) for displaying an initial image as well as an imaging optics (13) arranged between the image generator (11) and the eyeglass lens (1) for generating the virtual image from the initial image. The image generator (11) is the start point of an imaging beam path which generates the virtual image having an image distance on the basis of the initial image and which penetrates into the eyeglass lens (1) by means of the imaging optics (13) via the edge region (21) of the eyeglass lens (1). An outcoupling device for outcoupling the imaging beam path in the direction of the eye is provided in the eyeglass lens (1). The display device (9) comprises a device (23) for adjusting the image distance of the virtual image. The invention also relates to data eyeglasses comprising an imaging device.
