An apparatus to test a property of a fluid is provided. The apparatus includes a suspended member (135, 235) to be submerged in a fluid (115, 215) and a control device (360). The control device is coupled to the suspended member and is configured to pull the suspended member through at least a portion of the fluid to test a property of the fluid.
