Provided is a ferritic stainless steel material for a fuel cell, wherein the component composition of the stainless steel material, expressed in mass%, includes Cr: 11-25%, C: no more than 0.03%, Si: no more than 2%, Mn: no more than 2%, Al: 0.5-4.0%, P: no more than 0.05%, S: no more than 0.01%, N: no more than 0.03%, and Ti: no more than 1%, with the remainder comprising Fe and unavoidable impurities. The surface of the stainless steel material includes a zone extending to a depth twice the thickness of an oxide film of less than 0.1 μm, in which the maximum Al concentration in the cation ion fraction excluding O is 30 mass% or greater. |
