A method of calibrating current sense circuitry coupled in the output of a first CPU core voltage (Vcore) phase of a voltage regulator (VR), comprising: electrically coupling an output of the first Vcore phase to an output of a VSA phase of the VR; using at least one processing device of the VR to control the output voltage of the first Vcore phase and the output voltage of the VSA phase to cause a first current to flow between the first Vcore phase output and the VSA phase output; using at least one processing device of the VR to control the output voltage of the first Vcore phase and the output voltage of the VSA phase to cause a second current to flow between the first Vcore phase output and the VSA phase output, the second current being different than the first current; and using at least one processing device of the VR to calibrate the current sense circuitry of the VR based on a relationship between values of the first and second currents as determined by the processing device based on measurements received from the current sense circuitry of the VR compared to values of the first and second currents as calculated based on a difference between the first Vcore phase output voltage and the VSA phase output voltage while each of the first and second currents are flowing between the first Vcore phase output and the VSA phase output.
