856,476. Balancing grindwheels. HOFMANN, D. May 19, 1959 [May 24, 1958], No. 16970/59. Class 60. A device for balancing a grinding or polishing wheel comprises means on at least one face of the wheel 1 for holding two sets of balance weights in the concentric grooves 5, 6, one wider than the other, the set in the wider and preferably outer groove being adjustably secured to compensate for lack of balance resulting from the wheel mounting, whilst the other groove carries adjustable weights which are relatively small and are used to compensate unbalance arising from wear of the wheel. The grooves 5, 6, may be provided as shown, in the flange 2 of the mounting sleeve 3 of the wheel and the securing nut 41 on the sleeve may also have large grooves 5 ; the nut 4<SP>1</SP> may, if desired, be provided with both small and large grooves. Each groove is fitted with two weights arranged to be locked in adjusted position by screws. |
