The present invention relates to a preparation method of polyalkylene carbonate. According to the present invention, the preparation method of polyalkylene carbonate can maintain excellent activity of a catalyst during polymerization process for a long time, and can suppress generation of byproducts, thereby being efficient in manufacturing polyalkylene carbonate. The preparation method of the present invention comprises a step of polymerizing a monomer including epoxide and carbon dioxide in presence of an organic zinc catalyst. The epoxide comprises alkylene oxide and cycloalkylene oxide with a molar ratio of 1:0.01 to 1:0.2. The alkylene oxide has a carbon number of two to 20 and is substituted or unsubstituted with halogen or an alkyl group with a carbon number of one to five. The cycloalkylene oxide has a carbon number of four to 20 and is substituted or unsubstituted with halogen or an alkyl group with a carbon number of one to five.
