An adhesive for lasting shoe upper comprises a non-tacky, resiliently flexible, rod of a certain polyester adhesive of uniform cross-section of minimum cross-sectional dimension of at least 1/8 inch and of maximum not more than 3/8 inch. The polyester is one of 1,4-butanediol and terephthalic and isophthalic acids, in a molar ratio of from 60:40 to 90:10, the polyester being in an amorphous condition and having a temperature difference of at least 100 DEG C. between its crystal melting point and its second order transition temperature. In an example a copolyester made by reacting 2.2 mols of 1,4-butanediol with 0.825 mols of dimethyl terephthalate and 0.175 mols of dimethyl isophthalate in the presence of lead peroxide was extruded into an oval rod 1/8 inch by 3/16 inch.
