PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a bending amount at an end part and a wavy bending amount while suppressing increase in cost, by properly holding a rail when forcedly cooling the rail.SOLUTION: A holding device 37 holds a rail 1 at a plurality of holding positions including a top end part of the rail 1 along length direction of the rail 1 when forcedly cooling the hot rail 1 which has been hot rolled at a temperature equal to or above an austenite region, otherwise, heated to the temperature of austenite region or higher. In the holding devices 37, an average interval between the holding positions except for end part holding intervals d11, d13 between the holding position of the top end part and the adjoining holding position is 3-6 m, and they are set along length direction of the rail 1 such that the end part holding intervals d11, d13 are shorter than the average interval. |
