PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte battery and a battery pack which are improved in input and output characteristics.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte battery provided according to an embodiment comprises an exterior member, and a group of electrodes and a nonaqueous electrolyte which are enclosed in the exterior member. In the electrode, a negative electrode active material layer contains a monoclinic &bgr;-type titanium complex oxide. The negative electrode has a peak intensity ratio I(020)/I(001) satisfying the following inequality (I), and determined by X-ray powder diffraction with a Cu-Kα ray source: 0.6≤I(020)/I(001)≤1.2 (I), where I(020) is a peak intensity originating from (020) plane of the monoclinic &bgr;-type titanium complex oxide, and I(001) is a peak intensity originating from (001) plane of the monoclinic &bgr;-type titanium complex oxide. |
