A gear shaving machine comprises hydraulic means 34, Fig. 1, for rocking a table 22 about an axis 21 in time with the reciprocation of a slide 17, Fig. 2, the table and slide carrying a workpiece and a cutter. The slide 17 is moved on a support 16 by hydraulic means and carries an angularly adjustable headstock which supports the cutter 20 and its hydraulic driving motor. The support 16 is angularly adjustable on a column 11 movable on guides 12 by fluidpressure means and supported by an overarm 13. The hydraulic means 34 reciprocates a slide 31 carrying an angularly adjustable slotted member 29 engaging a follower 28 on the table 22. In operation, the cutter is reciprocated and is fed in by movement of the column 11. As the slide 17 reciprocates, it moves a cylinder 37 over a fixed piston 38 to pump fluid to the piston 34, so that the gear 26 is rocked in unison with the reciprocations. |
