[Also in Division H1] An electric lighting fitting, designed to accommodate one or more low-pressure mercury vapour fluorescent electric discharge lamps 5 and of the kind having a fitting housing 1 containing operating gear for the lamp or lamps and at least one lamp-holder 8 of insulating material carrying contacts 7 for engaging the lamp terminals, comprises, for each lamp, a metal member 15 located so as to engage part of the surface of a terminal cap 14 of the lamp when the lamp is mounted within the fitting, and which member is in good thermal contact with a metal part 16 of the fitting housing exposed to the atmosphere. The metal member 15 is preferably spring-loaded so as to be in resilient contact with the terminal cap, and it may take one of several forms, e.g. a simple bar or a frusto-conical shape having a semi-apical angle of about 45 degrees which mates with a suitably shaped terminal cap.
