<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reproduction device and an image reproduction method which have the wide range of an applicable image, are capable of generating an image in a short time, and allow a user to feel expectation or pleasure. <P>SOLUTION: A face detection and character detection and working unit 8a detects a face in an image and removes characters from in the image. A content jacket often contains not only an image but also characters such as a title, an author name, an artist name, a label name and a publishing company name. Then, a character detection unit in the face detection and character detection and working unit 8a removes the characters from in the image, and a similar image retrieval unit 8 compares with a taken image the image on the jacket of a music CD or the like having the characters removed therefrom and retrieves an image similar to the taken image (that is an auxiliary image). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
