[Also in Division E2] Adoor operating device comprises an hydraulic pump 5 operated by an electric motor 3 and driving an hydraulic motor 7, the hydraulic fluid passing through a control valve 19 and a non-return valve 20 between the pump 5 and motor 7 and the non-return valve being opened to permit return flow of the fluid as the door closes after a predetermined period. The electric motor 3, which has a belt drive 4 to pump 5, is started by a push-button, or switch or by a photo-electric device or mat operated contacts as the door is approached, and runs until the door is fully open. The fluid passes from the pump by way of conduit 21 to the control valve 19, raises piston 23, passes through a port 25 to the valve 20 and thence through conduit 26 to rotate a vane 6 in sector shaped motor 7 which operates links 9, 11, 13, against the action of a spring 16 connected by cord 15 to pulley 14, to open the door on its axis 2. When the door is fully open the fluid raises piston 23 further against loading spring 24, flows out of the port 27 and raises a piston 28 against the action of a spring 30. After the piston 28 has risen a predetermined height the piston rod 35 engages a microswitch 36 which normally stops the motor 3 to initiate closing of the door. If the user is in the vicinity of the door, closing is delayed by a mat-operated member 64, Fig. 3 (not shown), which keeps the motor circuit closed and the motor running until the user leaves the mat. If the motor is not switched off when the piston 28 nears its upper limit the fluid escapes through a port 33 and returns to the reservoir 17. When the motor is switched off the piston 23 returns to its original position, the piston 28 falls, the fluid returning via the ports 27, 32 of the control valve to the reservoir 17, and when the piston 28 nears the end of its cylinder it engages a rod 37 to open valve 20 to allow the vane of motor 7 to return and close the door, the fluid passing through valve 20 and ports 25, 32 of the control valve to the reservoir. Since the vane 6 covers the inlet and outlet ports 43, 44 of the motor in its extreme positions one-way and bleeder valves 47, 48, 49, 50 are introduced to start the movement and retard the final movement in each direction. A further bleeder valve 41 is fitted across the pump 5 to control the speed of the movements.
