BUTTERFLY VALVE AND METHOD FOR WORKING THE SAME

The present invention relates to a butterfly valve having a sealing structure improving water-tightness between a disk and a pipe while preventing an O-ring from being worn or damaged due to rotation of the disk and an operating method thereof. According to the present invention, the butterfly valve comprises: the disk installed to be rotated inside the pipe where a fluid flows to block or allow a flow of the fluid through the pipe; the O-ring made of a flexible resin material installed in an inner circumferential portion of the pipe to close a gap between an inner circumferential surface of the pipe and an outer circumferential surface of the disk while coming in contact with the outer circumferential surface of the disk to perform water sealing action; a plurality of pressing blocks installed to be moved in a radial direction in the pipe from the outside of the O-ring to press the O-ring with respect to the outer circumferential surface of the disk; and a pressing means moving the pressing block in the radial direction with respect to the pipe.
